Anna Hooks

Anna Jackson Hooks, who was 92 years old, was called to rest on January 12,2026.

She was the devoted wife of Frank D. Hooks Jr., loving sister of Charlotte L. Horton,
amazing aunt to Judge Brett E. Horton (partner Brandi Gil), Earle C. (Chico) Horton Ill
(wife Karen), Deitra Perry (husband Rocky), Scott Jackson, Clarence Bacon, Andre Gold,
Derrick Hooks, and Terra Hooks. She was a dedicated great aunt to Brett Jr. (B.J.), Bryce,
Sahara, and Earle C. IV Horton, and Andrea and Erika Perry. She was dear sister-in-law of
Frank (Addie), Melva Carter and Earle C. Horton II Esq.

For decades, Anna was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Cleveland
As a Golden Soror of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, she was honored for more than 50
years of service. She served for 35 years as a teacher at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School
in Cleveland where she inspired children to pursue excellence. She graduated from West
Virginia State University where she was an active alum and returned for reunions with
many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, her parents James Ellery Jr. and Anna
Edell Jackson, and her step-mother, Edna Frances, and her brother James Ellery Jackson Jr.
sisters, colleagues, parents, and the children she taught. She especially loved children
and working with them and their families. She opened her home and hosted many
people from various locations and walks of life for holidays and celebrations. She will be
dearly missed, and her light will shine forever in the hearts of those who love her and
cherish memories of her life, lessons, and the example Anna
