Anna Marie Hovde passed away at home in Silver Spring, MD on Monday, November 10, 2025 with her mother by her side. Anna was born at Naval Hospital Roosevelt Roads Ceiba, Puerto Rico and had been fortunate enough to live in Iceland, and Japan during her Mom's Naval career. She graduated from Northwood High School, Silver Spring, MD in 2013. She studied Pastry & Baking at Art Institute of Washington in DC post high school.
Anna has always had a love of the arts, nature, animals, music, travel, Japanese dance, Okinawa martial arts, anime, wood working, singing and volunteering in her community. She was selected by American Legion Post 86 women's auxillary in Rockville, MD as their poppy girl of which she participated in poppy distribution events to honor fallen service members and raise funds for veterans. She was also selected to attend Girls State in MD during her high school 11th year. Most of all she loved the children she taught with the after school STEM program in Montgomery County. She also taught soccer on the weekends and Summer programs to the kids. She loved her 2 year old collie/kelpie dog, Cooper.
Anna was born a philanthropist. Always looking out for and wanting to help others in need. She went to many volunteer events with her Mom in the Navy, giving time or resources to help those in need with other organizations. Her sense of humor, ability to make people laugh and give a good debate will be missed by many.
She is survived by her devoted mother, Lisa Ann Hovde. She is also survived by her aunt Brenda Reynolds (Dean), cousins Samantha Hovde, Kara Reynolds, Aryn Zupokfska Ray (Niles), and second cousins Lillian, Raedyn, Emalani, and Xander all of South Carolina. She is proceeded in death by her maternal grandmother Blanche Marie Hovde whom she cared for the last several years before her passing in 2018, and other close family members.
