Anna C. DeGiulio Kesterson, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at her home, surrounded by love and the comfort of family.
Anna was born on June 10, 1932, in her family home in
Pingree, Idaho, to S.L. and Mary DeGiulio. As the eldest of four children, she naturally stepped into a guiding role early in life, helping keep her younger brothers in line-early preparation for the role she would later embrace wholeheartedly as the matriarch of her family. After graduating high school, Anna pursued a career in nursing, a profession that reflected her caring spirit and lifelong dedication to helping others.
In the early 1950s, Anna met and married Carl V. Fisher, and together they moved to Portland, Oregon, to begin raising their family. Although their marriage later ended in divorce, Anna returned to Pingree, where life eventually led her to marry Gary Kesterson. With Gary, she spent nearly a decade in Fairbanks, Alaska, creating memories that added to the rich tapestry of her life. Through her marriages, Anna was blessed with four children, who remained at the center of her heart.
In the mid-1980s, Anna returned home to Idaho and spent many meaningful years living next door to her parents. Her mother, Mary, was her best friend, and Anna devoted herself lovingly to caring for her after the passing of her father, S.L. During this time, Anna was an active and faithful member of St. John Catholic Church, where she enjoyed participating in church bazaars and community gatherings.
After retiring from nursing, Anna moved to Pocatello to be closer to her grandchildren, cherishing the time spent watching them grow. In 2015, she relocated to Oregon, where she lived with her daughter and grandchildren, continuing to surround herself with family and love.
Anna had a gift for hospitality. She loved to cook, and even more, she loved feeding people. A quick visit to her home was never just that-there was always an offer of a plate of food and a cup of coffee, no matter the time of day. She found joy in traveling, especially with her dear friends, and loved the simple pleasures of life: doing puzzles, sitting on the porch visiting with loved ones, and watching Nancy Grace. Above all else, Anna loved her family deeply and embraced her role as "Grandma" with pride, devotion, and endless affection.
Anna is survived by her son, Chris Fisher (Jan); her grandchildren, Ean Fisher (Deborah), Mallarie Bascom (Joel), Dalanie Fisher, Kelly Jean Ashback, Jacob Ashback, Matthew Fisher (Julie), Marcus Fisher (Michelle), Meagaen Loosemore (Trever), Brittany Souter (Robert), Ashley Davis, Brandon Kesterson, and Chandler Kesterson; 17 great-grandchildren; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were touched by her kindness and warmth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Eugene DeGiulio, Ernie DeGiulio, and Anthony DeGiulio; her children, Rick J. Fisher, Pamela A. Baker, and Mark J. Kesterson; and her beloved grandchildren, Kelsie Fisher and Jon R. Kesterson.
Anna's legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the lives she nurtured, and the love she so freely gave. At this time, there are no immediate plans for services. The family will share updates as arrangements are made.
