Mrs. Anna "Ruth" B. Kreis, resident of Augusta, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at home in Augusta at the age of 95. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Tuesday, February 11, 1930, the daughter of Hobart and Clara Moore Burkhart.
Jim and Anna Ruth Burkhart were united in marriage on June 13, 1948. Mrs. Kreis worked in the home and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Knoxville. Ruth was an avid golfer, having taken up the sport later in life.
Mrs. Kreis was preceded in death by her parents, Hobart and Clara Burkhart; an infant son; a son, Arthur; three brothers, Wallace, Marvin, and Howard; and three sisters, Bessie, Mattie, and Belle.
She is survived by two sisters, Ray Edmonds and Martha Cox; four sons, Gary Kreis and his wife, Ann, of Arlington, Tennessee; Michael Wayne "Mickey" Kreis and his wife, Ginger, of Augusta; Jeffery "Jeff" Kreis and his wife, Teresa, of Little Rock; and David Kreis and his wife, Lisa, of Hutto, Texas; nine grandchildren, Michael Kreis, Kelly Bailey, Justin Kreis, Lana Fairchild, J. Kreis, Matt Kreis, Jacob Kreis, Katelyn Kreis, and Kylee Kreis; ten great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Committal services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in Asbury Cemetery in Knoxville with Pastor Larry Dial officiating.
The family would like to recognize three angels for their care of Mrs. Kreis – Dena, Yvonne, and Dee. Donations may be made in Mrs Kreis's honor to Asbury Methodist Church 2822 Asbury Road, Knoxville, TN 37914.
