Anna Lindemann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Knesek Family Funeral Chapel - Bellville on Jan. 10, 2026.
Anna Lois (Becker) Lindemann, known as Ann, was born on November 30, 1939, in Seguin, Texas, to Paul and Annie Mae Becker. She passed away after a life devoted to family, education, history, and service.

Ann was born, raised, and educated in Seguin, graduating from Seguin High School and earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Texas Lutheran University. In 1962, she married James Lindemann, beginning a partnership that would span more than six decades-marked by shared purpose, community leadership, and deep devotion to family.

Ann was a woman of faith who prayed for both large and small things, trusting that God hears every prayer.

Ann and Jim were blessed with two children, Lori and Bradley (Brad); a daughter-in-law, Trina Lindemann; and three grandchildren-Lauren, Jenna, and Tyler-who were the great joy of her life. Above all, Ann cherished her family. She took great pride in their accomplishments and treasured time spent together.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Haas, and her sister-in-law, Emma Jean Becker.

Ann shared her love of learning as an elementary school teacher in Seguin, Waco, and Houston. While education shaped her early career, Ann's lifelong passion was preserving local and German-Texan history. She devoted decades to preserving the cultural heritage of Austin County and the Industry, Texas area.

Her service included leadership roles at every level. She served on the Austin County Historical Commission, including twelve years as Chairperson; was a member of the Texas Historical Commission's Antiquities Advisory Board; and held offices with the German-Texan Heritage Society, including State President. She was also a founding member and longtime Vice President of the Industry-West End Historical Society.

Through her work, Ann researched and secured approval for numerous Texas State Historical Markers, edited and co-authored local history publications, and helped establish the Lindemann Store Museum and the Lindemann-Ott House Museum, ensuring that future generations would understand and appreciate the region's rich past. Her contributions were valued by the historical community.

Through her study of German-Texan history, Ann discovered the work of German botanist Ferdinand Lindheimer and developed an appreciation for native plants.

Ann enjoyed traveling and learning. While living with her family in England, she traveled throughout Europe and, over her lifetime, visited all 50 states.

Ann lived a life of quiet leadership, intellectual curiosity, and generous service. She believed that preserving the past was a gift to the future-and she gave that gift selflessly.

She will be remembered for her grace, dedication, warmth, and unwavering love for her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the institutions she strengthened, the history she preserved, and the family she adored.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church - Bellville in her memory.
