Anna Marie Russell, lovingly known as "Poe," passed away on December 28, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the warmth that she so generously shared with others throughout her life. Born on December 31, 1957, in Charleston, West Virginia, Anna painted her world with kindness and compassion, becoming the bedrock of her family and friends.
To many, Anna was more than just a sister; she was a sister that some never had. Her loving and caring nature allowed her to connect deeply with those around her, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a heartfelt conversation. Her legacy of love will forever be cherished by her beloved daughters, Regina "Buffy" (Joe) Spangenberg of Wheeling and Banessa "B" (Scott) Heatherington of Martins Ferry, Tina Bokanovich her (Cousin) that was like a sister to her. Their lives are filled with memories of a nurturing mother who dedicated herself to their happiness and well-being.
Anna took tremendous pride in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She reveled in those joyful moments spent with her grandchildren, who were among her proudest accomplishments. Her legacy extends to her grandchildren, Ariana Spangenberg, Kylee Beaver, Kaleb Pitchford, and great grand daughter Amara Rose Brown, who will carry forward the love and warmth she bestowed upon them.
A true enthusiast of life's simple pleasures, Anna found joy in fishing and camping, embracing the beauty of nature. She enjoyed playing games on her computer, using her cherished pastime to connect with loved ones and bring smiles to their faces. Above all, Anna had a profound love for people and often went above and beyond, and her unique ability to pay bills online showcased her practical side while also reflecting her willingness to help.
Anna's life journey was not without its struggles. She faced her lengthy illness with grace and strength, embodying the spirit she carried throughout her life. She is reunited in eternal rest with her cherished parents, Charles Edward Sr. and Helen Louise (Burch) Alvey, and her dear brothers, Charles "Roney" Edward Alvey Jr., and William "Dink"Joseph Alvey.
As we bid farewell to Anna Marie Russell, we hold onto the memories of her vibrant spirit, tender heart, and unwavering support. Her profound impact on her family and friends will resonate for generations, an enduring testament to a life filled with love, dedication, and kindness.
