Anna Joe Sanders of Kilmarnock, Virginia passed away at home on February 28, 2026, at the age of 98. Anna Joe was married for over 50 years to her wonderful husband, the late George Webb Sanders.

Anna Joe is survived by her three children Donna Slade (Bob) of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Peggy Conner (Bill) of Montpelier, Virginia, and Jerry Sanders (Michael) of Cordova, Tennessee; two grandchildren Emily Conner Sink (Stephen) of Glen Allen, Virginia, and Robert "Rob" Christopher Slade (Chelsey) of Wake Forest, North Carolina; five great grandchildren Kinsley, Laurel, Madison (children of Emily & Stephen), Coley and GryXin (children of Rob & Chelsey), niece Elaine Moss and nephew Steve Schools.

Anna Joe was a retired Remedial Reading Assistant who worked with the Lancaster County School system for 22 years. She was an active member in her beloved Irvington Baptist Church for many years, including her roles as Sunday school teacher, youth choir director, vacation bible school teacher, and adult choir leader and member. She also volunteered for many years at Bon Secours Rappahannock General Hospital and Seconds Unlimited.

Anna Joe was loved and admired by her family and community much more than words can ever express. She was a woman of strong character, endless love and concern for others, and tremendous faith her entire life.
