Anna Margaret Schmidlkofer, 94, a resident of the Forest Grove community passed away on November 28, 2024 at her home.
Ann was born on December 21, 1929 in Hillsboro, Oregon. She was the fifth of six children born to William and Wilhelmina (Bernards) Hermens. She was raised on the family farm in Verboort and attended Visitation Catholic Grade School and Verboort High School graduating with the class of 1946.She later attended Marylhurst College for one year.
She met her future husband, Stanley Schmidlkofer, through mutual friends. They courted for about 1 year and married on April 26, 1949 at Visitation Catholic Church in Verboort. They made their home on a farm on Hillside Rd. where they raised their four children, Brad, Ann, Cathy and John.
Ann was a devoted mother and wife to her family. She worked outside of the home during harvest season, field bossing for strawberries and helping harvest prunes and nuts. She enjoyed golfing and was a 4-H leader helping young girls learn to cook and bake. She was a member of the Visitation Altar Society and a member of Rosary Makers. Ann loved Christmas music, big band and enjoyed baking for her family. Stan and Ann played golf together, took trips to the beach and enjoyed going to Reno.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Stanley, a daughter, Karen, a son-in-law, Michael Strassel, her parents and three siblings.
She is survived by four children and their spouses, Brad and Suzi Schmidlkofer of Newberg, Ann Strassel of Buxton, Catherine and Paul Heinrich of Yamhill, John and Julie Schmidlkofer of Forest Grove, two sisters, Dorothy Hermens and Frances Kelly, thirteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
The family suggest donations to The Visitation Catholic School Endowment Fund and/or to the Visitation Catholic Cemetery in her memory.
