Anna Marie Wright

Anna Marie Wright, 92, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2024, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. She was born on November 3, 1931, in Cooper County, MO, the daughter of William Hughes and Kathryn (Rodekohr) Hughes, who preceded her in death.
On May 20, 1955, in Sacramento, CA, she was united in marriage to Walter J. "Bud" Wright, who preceded her in death on October 4, 1997.
Anna was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish Sacred Heart Church. She was a past president of the Sedalia VFW Post #2591 Auxiliary. Anna enjoyed playing bingo and could be found just about anywhere a bingo game was going on. She loved working on jigsaw puzzles and collecting spoons. Anna especially loved family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include four children, Vickie Thate (Terry) of Kingsville, MO, Michael Wright (Laura) of Rogers, AR, Kathryn Wright of Sedalia, and Thomas Wright (Kristie) of Van Buren, MO; fifteen grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann Medlin (Kenneth) of Latham, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Anna was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Mather; three brothers, Oliver Hughes, Paul Thompson, and Jacob Thompson; a sister, Maxine Howard, and a sister in infancy, Maggie Mae Thompson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Sacred Heart Chapel of St. Vincent de Paul, with Father Joe Corel officiating.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary at 6:15 p.m. at Rea Funeral Chapel, 3510 W. 16th St., Sedalia.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sedalia.
Pallbearers will be David Wright, Tyler Stout, Jerry Rugen, Matthew Rowe, Wyatt Clayton, and Christopher Matthews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia VFW Post #2591 Auxiliary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
