Anne Raye Simms Arnold passed away on November 8, 2025, following a brief illness. She was predeceased by her parents, James “Sonny”Simms and Victoria Joyner Simms, and husband James Harold Arnold. Ann was one of 8 children, Buddy, Allen, Jack, Bill, Mary, Fanny, and her twin Nan all deceased She was born on October 23, 1923 in Wilson N. C. Ann loved classical music, opera, and art. She rented albums from the library and would listen for hours. Her favorite Opera was Madam Butterfly, favorite classical composer, Mozart. She loved, sewing, embroidery, crocheting, cooking, decorating. Ann loved her 8 children, John, Patsy, and Timothy all preceded her in death. Ann leaves to mourn 5 children, Nanita, Joseph, James, Robert, and Bess along with a host of grandchildren, great children and great great grands. She is also survived by a sister- in- law and many nieces and nephews. Ann’s favorite quote was from the poet and cleric John Donne. Ask not for Whom the Bell tolls, the bell tolls for Thee. Her son Robert once asked her what she really wanted to do with her life. She told him she wanted to be a Mother and love her children and have them love her.
