Anne Leatherbarrow Bleakley, 81, of Manchester, beloved wife of 61 wonderful years to Terence (Terry) Bleakley, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, November 14, 2025.
Anne was born in Walkden, England, welcomed by the late Ernest and Elizabeth Leatherbarrow. She immigrated to Canada with Terry and their four young children in 1967. While raising her five children, Anne was very involved with the Girl Guides of Canada, beginning as a Leader and eventually holding the position of District Commissioner for her Region. After raising her children she furthered her education, graduating in 1987 with a Certificate of Management from McGill University, Montreal, and held Office Management roles throughout her working career in Canada and the U.S. until her retirement in 2005. Anne moved to the United States in 1990 where she lived in Massachusetts and Maine, before settling down in Manchester, Connecticut in 2019.
She is survived by: her husband Terry Bleakley of Manchester; her four children, daughter, Karen Bleakley and spouse, Jean Daigle of Dorval, Quebec, son, Andrew Bleakley and spouse, Pia Pozzuto of St. Laurent, Quebec, daughter, Tracy Fischer and spouse, Lloyd, of Tampa, FL, and Suzanne Dragone and spouse, Chris, of South Windsor, CT; her seven cherished grandchildren, Robert Garnon, his spouse, Brittany, and their three children, Ripley, Rosemarie and Roswell Garnon; William and Lleyton Fischer, Nicolas and Alex Daigle, Alessandra and Amanda Pozzuto-Bleakley. In addition to her parents, Anne was predeceased by her son, Paul Bleakley and her brother, Gordon Leatherbarrow.
At the family's request, there will be no local services or calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home in South Windsor. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at John A. DeQuattro Cancer Center in Manchester for their compassion and care of Anne during the last several months.
