Cecilia Anne Dameron (Brittain)(Zehnder) 106, of Upper Arlington Ohio ended her earthly pilgrimage and was received by her Heavenly Father on Saturday December 16, 2023. She entered God’s rest peacefully with family around her.

Born on May 4, 1917 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, “Anne” was the youngest of four children (and only girl) born to Cecelia and Spenser Brittain. As a toddler, she was sent to live in the countryside with her Aunt Jenny during the Spanish Flu Pandemic. Anne later returned to her family in Pittsburg and went on to graduate from Crafton High School in 1936. This ended her formal education but not her learning which lasted for a lifetime.

In 1938, Anne married Charles Walter Zehnder Jr. and settled in Fredrick, Maryland. There she became a wife and mother, but also took on various roles such as managing the local veterinarian office, helping at Frederick County Products (which was the family meat packing business), and working for a book company. Also, Anne was a founding member of the Frederick Pony Club. Through her involvement, she not only taught her children to ride and care for ponies but also judged shows on the eastern shore of Maryland.  On the family farm, she raised purebred Angus cattle. Her favorite steer was an orphan that she rescued named Herbie.

Following the death of her husband, “Charlie”, Anne married Floyd S. Dameron and relocated to Gaithersburg, Maryland. Soon after, she obtained her realtor’s license and partnered with Floyd buying and selling properties in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Although, her favorite memories of being with Floyd involve their study of the Bible together and also their trip to Israel. In the late 1990’s Anne moved to Upper Arlington to be closer to family. She relished opportunities to be in the center of family life–birthday dinners, trips, family gardening. She enjoyed being in the middle of what was happening.

Anne–or as her grandchildren called her “Great Great” will be remembered for her spunky spontaneity, and determined spirit even in her later years. She took up golf in her eighties and was the first to teach the grandkids the line dancing steps to “Achy Breaky Heart”. When a resident of Asbury Retirement Community in Gaithersburg, she organized the annual variety show, “Campus Capers”–and starred in it too!

Until her death, Anne faithfully read the scriptures. Knowing the God who had created her, kept her, and loved her was her daily joy and refuge. God alone was her hope until the very end. She will be dearly missed.

Anne was preceeded in death by her husband, Charles W. Zehnder; her 2nd husband, Floyd S. Dameron; and her son, Charles B. Zehnder.

She is survived by her son Stephen and his wife Tammy; son, Mark; daughter-in-law Elisabeth Zehnder; grandchildren Julia Berend, Elisabeth Morrell, Katie Tew, David Zehnder, Kyle Zehnder, and Kevin Zehnder and Dakota Zehnder. She is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Riverside Bible Church at 5330 Olentangy River Road in Columbus Ohio on Friday December 29th at 10:30am. There will be visitation from 9:45am-10:30am before the service and also after the service with a luncheon.

A graveside service at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, Maryland will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Anne’s memory to Riverside Bible Church.
