Anne Giuca Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Benson Family Funeral Home on Oct. 9, 2023.
Obituary
Anne Giuca passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Avantara Rehabilitation Center in Lake Zurich, IL.
She was born on June 28, 1930 in Moldova Noua, Romania to Nicolae and Anastasia (Albu) Arcan.
Anne grew up in Romania, where she attended the Industrial High School for Girls in Timisoara. She worked as a civil clerk at the City Hall in Moldova Noua until 1950, when she married Cornell Giuca. They were together for 65 years, until Cornell passed away on March 17, 2015.
On January 1954 they welcomed their first son, Olimpiu and the following year, their daughter Rodica.
Through the years, Anne was a devoted and loving wife and mother and continued to support her husband and raise their children in the spirit of God.
When children almost finished highschool, she started working in accounting at The Institute for Specialized Structural Construction, until she left Romania.
In 1980 the family emigrated to America, and settled in Chicago. While learning to speak English she had different factory jobs, and later worked as an office clerk for an insurance company.
Anne, a devoted Christian, was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, then First Romanian Baptist Church, and later Bethel Romanian Baptist Church. Anne was active in the women committee in these churches, and participated in many church activities.
She was a great cook, and loved to host family on holidays, birthdays or anniversaries. She enjoyed taking care of her flower garden, and she would find happiness in helping others. Later in life, she would enjoy needlework and crocheting during the daylight and reading late at night.
Anne is survived by her son Cornel (Michelle) Giuca of Janesville, WI, her daughter Rodica (John) Mangiurea of Hawthorn Woods, her grandchildren Simon, Irene, Katherine, Christina, Anne-Marie, and her great grandchildren Charlotte, Olivia, John, Madeleine, and Adrian.
