The world is less bright today as we are sad to say Anne Marie (Hetz) Healey, 88, of Keeseville, NY, was called home to heaven on February 25th, 2025. She was born in Scranton, PA on April 4th, 1936, the youngest of 4 children to Robert and Mae Hetz. She graduated as a registered nurse from Mercy Hospital. She married her high school sweetheart on Sept 5th, 1959 and worked in several care specialties throughout her nursing career, including maternity, Red Cross, home health, and private duty.
In 1970, they moved to Keeseville, NY where they raised their family. She and her husband were very active in the church and devoted a total of 2 years volunteering as house parents for a Catholic orphanage in Jamaica. Anne Marie spent countless hours assisting young women to get started on the journey of motherhood through her work with the Plattsburgh chapter of Birthright. She is a shining example of what most people strive to be, and will be truly missed by so many. The one word that describes her best is beloved; to know her is to love her.
Although she had 8 children, she had an amazing way of making us all feel special. Ask any of us and we would tell you that we secretly felt like we were her favorite. Family gatherings were not limited to holidays (or even to family). You would find us all gathered around the giant dinner table with friends and strays alike. Everyone was always welcome in our home. Her faith was the cornerstone of her very existence and influenced every decision she made and word she spoke. She passed quietly with her husband by her side and a rosary
in her hand.
She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of over 65 years, Thomas "Scout" Ignatius Healey and the enormous family they created, her 8 children: Anne Marie (Daniel) Rochester of Champlain, NY; Mary Ellen Unson (Paul Hart) of Ormond Beach, FL; John Fitzgerald (Sherry) Healey of Naperville, IL; Margaret Marie (Randall) Douglas of Jay, NY; Rose Marie Healey of Morrisonville, NY; Mary Patricia (Stephen) Bedard of Plattsburgh, NY; Timothy (Kristie) Healey of Colchester, VT; and Robert Joseph Healey (Carrie Glover) of Pawtucket, RI. She is Nana to 17 remaining grandchildren: Katelyn (Stephen) Saunier, Jordanne (Jeff) Campbell, Duncan (Chelsey) Rochester, Tyler (Sandra) Unson, Zachary Unson, Michael Healey, Ryan (Brianna) Healey, Parker (Madisen) Doveley, Savannah (Thomas) Therrien, Shane Douglas, Alex Ero, Austin Ero, Rachel (Bradley) Baker, Jamie Bedard (Nick Cramer), Stephen Bedard, Lincoln
Healey and Hannah Healey.
They have 12 great-grandchildren so far: Oliver, River, Austin, Avril, Liam, Lydia, Erin, Harrison, Atlas, Odyssey, Crew and Aspen. She has one surviving brother-in-law, Joe Healey, and 21 remaining nieces and nephews left to cherish the memories of their Aunt Bananie.
Anne Marie is predeceased by her parents , Robert and Mae, her 3 siblings, Bob, Margie and Libby, and her eldest grandchild, Melissa, as well as 3 nephews, Andy, Berard and Jackie.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Meadowbrook for the hard work and extraordinary acts of kindness shown to our mother.
Calling hours will be held from 4-6 PM on Friday, March 7th at the Heidrick- Zaumetzer Funeral Home in Au Sable Forks. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 8th at 11:30 AM at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Keeseville, with a reception to follow, celebrating her life.
