Anne Callis Jones, a beloved member of the Williamsburg community, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on October 27, 1934, in
Williamsburg, Virginia, Anne lived a life rich with family, friendships, and dedication to her community.
A proud alumna of the College of William and Mary, Anne was deeply rooted in the fabric of Williamsburg's history and culture. Her professional career included serving as an upper manager for both Lee Gift Shop and the Trimble Collection, where she was respected for her leadership and commitment.
Anne's life was filled with a love for nature and the simple joys it offers. She found great pleasure in gardening, reading, and walking. The beach was a cherished retreat, where she spent countless hours enjoying the serenity of the waves. Alongside her late husband, Edward, she shared a passion for crabbing and biking, creating memories that lasted a lifetime.
Her faith and heritage were important to her, as reflected in her active participation at Bruton Parish Church and her involvement with organizations such as the Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Music Club, Garden Club, and Williamsburg House Tours.
Anne was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Edward E. Jones, and her loving parents, Elizabeth and Allen Callis. She leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by her sons, Mark Jones and his wife Thao, and Michael Jones and his wife Melissa. Her grandchildren, Emily and Sarah Jones of Charleston, Andrew Jones and his wife Sara of North Carolina, and Alex Jones and his wife Melanie of Texas, along with her great-grandchildren, William and Savannah of North Carolina, will forever cherish her memory. Anne also held a special friendship with Carolyn Vassos, who was dear to her heart.
A private service will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery in
Williamsburg, VA, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Edward. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anne's memory to the Hospice House of Williamsburg, reflecting her enduring spirit of generosity and care for others.
