Anne LaViolette passed away peacefully with her family at her side on December 4, 2024. Anne was born on January 4, 1934. She was preceded in death by her husband Don LaViolette, who she was married to for 59 years, her parents Ed and Marvel Barnard, her brother Peter, her in-laws Homer and Albertine LaViolette, Gene LaViolette and Leo Crowley and her cherished four legged companion Baily who was always at her side.

She is survived by her loving daughters Karen (Neil), Nancy, Cathy and one son Bob. She is also survived by her cherished seven grandchildren and her great-grandchildren who have given her such pride and happiness. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Crowley, in-laws and wonderful nieces and nephews.

Anne graduated from Mount Mary College. She was an outstanding English teacher and she took great pride in working with her students. She was a substitute teacher in the Ashwaubenon District, taught at St Joseph Grade school (now Our Lady of Lourdes) in DePere, Saint Joseph Academy in Green Bay and Green Bay Notre Dame Academy. Her students and fellow faculty held her in high regard. She loved the relationships she gained through the art of teaching. Anne and Don received the Founders Award for Education from Notre Dame Academy.

Anne was a vivacious reader and loved her sports, especially watching college football and basketball games. She was a champion of Yahtzee and loved playing with family and friends.

The most important aspect of Anne’s life was her family. It was fun to see her beautiful smile when her children, grandchildren and great-grand children were around her. Being a coach’s wife, she spent many years in the stands supporting Don’s teams. She also supported Bob’s teams and her grandchildren. All her children were treated equally. Anne was a very competitive individual, whether it was in a game of tennis, Scrabble or Yahtzee.

Anne and Don spent many happy years of retirement in Florida, allowing her children and their families to spend many wonderful vacations by the beach and pool with her.

The last ten years Anne happily lived with her daughter Cathy allowing her to spend so much quality time with all her children and their families and with friends. Thanks to her best friend Judy Schumacher and her niece Mary Shawn for all the wonderful lunches and Yahtzee games. A special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Meng Unity Hospice in DePere for the awesome and dignified care they provided Anne.

Anne will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. She left her loving mark on all of us and all of the students she helped mold into wonderful adults, which meant so much to her.

Visitation for Anne with family will be held from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday December 7th at Newcomer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or the Wisconsin Humane Society, two of Anne’s favorite charities.
