Annette Basso Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. on Nov. 16, 2025.
Annette Basso, 79, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, at her home in Hazlet Township, New Jersey. Her gentle spirit and friendly demeanor left a lasting impression; her kindness and warmth touched all who met her.

A true baby boomer, Annette was born on March 31, 1946, in Jersey City, NJ to proud first-generation Italian Americans, less than a year after the end of WW II. She was the cherished daughter of the late Samuel (a WW I veteran) and Mary (Costa) DeThomas. The youngest of seven siblings, all of whom predeceased her, Annette grew up in a lively and loving household.

Annette attended Dickinson High School in Jersey City and later met the love of her life, John Basso. They married on September 28, 1968, beginning a lifelong journey of devotion and companionship. In the late 1970s, seeking a better place to raise their family, Annette and John moved to Monmouth County, settling in Hazlet Township, where they would remain and lovingly raise their children.

Annette dedicated more than three decades to a career in the insurance industry. She retired in 2020 from JGS Insurance in Holmdel, where she was admired and respected for her work as an Administrative Assistant.

Family was the heart of Annette's world. She is survived by her loving children, Tracy Basso, Michael Basso and his wife Kyla, and Steven Basso and his wife Jaclyn. She was a devoted and doting grandmother to Nicolas and Allana Basso, who were the light of her life and the joyful recipients of her boundless love.

Annette's presence was truly a gift. Known for her sweet, warm nature, she offered friendship easily and greeted everyone with a smile. She always saw the best in others. Her gentle kindness and positivity were a steady and uplifting force in her family and community. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, particularly gathering with family and friends to share a good meal, valuing togetherness and believing, wholeheartedly, in the power of love, connection, and faith.

As we bid farewell to Annette, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul whose example of kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be offered during the latter part of the visitation hours.

Annette will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, John, on Monday, November 24, 2025, at a private ceremony at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey. For information, directions, or to send condolences, please visit www.shorepointfh.com.
