AUGUST 5, 1936 – JANUARY 24, 2008 Annette Elin, 71, VISTA – Annette “Cookie Elin passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2008. Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Annette moved to the United States shortly after her marriage in 1959. Annette moved to Vista in 1970 with her husband and her children. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Eric Elin, also formerly of South Africa and currently of Vista. Annette was a homemaker who loved nothing more in this world than being a wife and mother. She was an avid cook and baker and loved knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint. With her husband, Annette traveled to Europe, Alaska, and the Caribbean. Annette loved to read, to travel, and to just be with her family. In addition to her loving husband, Eric, Annette is survived by her sons Leslie Elin of Vista, Darren Elin of San Francisco, and Rodney Elin, of Silver Springs, MD; by her daughter, Melanie J. Elin of New York City; by her most cherished friend, Annette Conley of Los Angeles; by her grandson, Andrew Donham; by her sisters, Diane Du Plessis, of Houston, and Barbara Lipschitz of Johannesburg, South Africa; by her brother-in-law, Paul Du Plessis, of Houston; by her brother-in-law, Aubrey Elin, of Johannesburg, South Africa; by her cousins, Raymond Jacobson of Sacramento, and Julia Ralston of Johannesburg, South Africa. The family wishes to express their most heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Tri-City Medical Center for taking care of Annette during her illness, and to Barbara and Nigel Corser who have helped the family in more ways than they will ever know. Annette is interned at Eternal Hills Memorial Park at 1999 El Camino Real in Oceanside, CA
