It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Annette Ellen “Sue” Fawns McIntyre, who departed this world on November 4, 2025, at the Windsor Care Center in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. Born on January 31, 1933, in Hillsboro, Kentucky, Sue touched the lives of many throughout her remarkable journey of 92 years.
For 27 years, Sue dedicated herself as a cook and manager of the Fleming County High School Cafeteria. Her commitment to nourishing the bodies and spirits of students was evident until her retirement in 1994, leaving behind a legacy of care that continued to resonate with those she served.
A devoted member of the Elizaville Christian Church, Sue was an integral part of her community. Her involvement with the Ladies Circle at the church reflected her commitment to fellowship and service, providing a nurturing space for those around her. Beyond her local church, she participated in various organizations including the Fleming County Hospital Auxiliary, the Charlton Ashton Rebekah Lodge #112, the Fleming County Homemakers, and the VFW women’s auxiliary. Her passion for community service was further demonstrated through her work on the Fleming County 4-H council and the Fleming County Cooperative Extension Service District board, where she played a vital role during the construction of the new extension office. Sue’s active role in the Buffalo Trace Aging Council and Ombudsman Council, as well as her enthusiasm for the Democratic Women’s Club, showcased her unwavering dedication to serving others and contributing positively to her county’s growth.
Sue’s family was her pride and joy. She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Kennetha Vance (Randall) of Mt. Sterling, along with her cherished four grandchildren: Kelly (Jay) Weitekamp, Kristen (Jason) Story, Joshua (Jessica) Vance, and Roxanne (Louie) Wright. Her great-grandchildren, Keygan Story, Josiah Story, Jadon Story, Jocelyn Vance, and Keller Wright, brought her immeasurable joy and were a testament to her nurturing spirit.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth C. McIntyre who passed away February 13, 1963; her father, Hobert Fawns; her mother, Lydia Rebeccah Rawlings Fawns; two daughters, Linda Cooper and Sylvia Hawkins; her grandson, Luke Hawkins; her great-granddaughter, Leah Kathryn Vance; and three brothers, Hobert Fawns Jr., James Claude Fawns, and Sammy Fawns.
