Both our girls loved art from the time we moved here and that is because Annette made it fun! I always enjoyed talking with her and her staff swimming parties were the bomb! She was a blessing to everyone who interacted with her! Extending sympathy to all the family! She will be missed!

I was so sorry to hear of Annette's passing and I am sorry that I did not reconnect with her during visits in town. That was one of those things I intended to do "next tine". We lived in Ankeny from 1971-1979 and I met Annette at a La Leche League meeting where we volunteered together for several years. My two older kids were introduced to swimming at the Mom & Tot swim classes she taught at the Y. I so admired her as a mother and as a woman who accomplished so much in her kind, modest way. We moved away from Iowa, but our son Paul returned to Ankeny to raise his family and has kept us informed about the Vance family. Love and sympathy to all of you.

For many years Annette and I were elementary art colleagues in the Ankeny School District. We both earned our Master's degree at ISU and attended grad classes together. A highlight of our friendship was a trip to Paris, France to visit all the city's art museums. Annette always gave the best of herself in everything she accomplished. She contributed so much to the city of Ankeny and the children in our community. Annette will be dearly missed.

Annette was our Board President at the Ankeny Art Center for over 25 years!
She was a great supporter of the arts. She taught yoga here, helped at gallery receptions, and was always ready to help with a smile! She will be missed.

Working with Annette and having her teach my children to appreciate art was a joy! She loved watching children appreciate the various art forms. Her passion for art spilled out to those around her!

Annette was one of the kindest people I've ever had the honor to call my friend. I met Annette through "balance yoga lounge" in Ankeny, and over the years have enjoyed practicing yoga with her and lunches beside her pool in the summer. Her generous spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all of us who knew her.
