Annie Hashaway Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 24, 2025.
Annie Laura Cheatham was born to Essie Mizzell Cheatham and Annie Lee Cheatham on April 15, 1937 in Georgiana, Alabama. She was the second child born to this union.

Annie Laura attended Georgiana Training School where she completed her diploma in 1956. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles, California, where she attended Los Angeles City School District Division of College and Adult Education to receive her Certification of Practical Nursing in 1966.

She united with Clifford Hasley (deceased) in holy matrimony and leaves behind 3 children Kenneth Hasley, Jeffery Hasley, and Anthony Hasley (deceased);13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 2 daughter in laws. She also leaves behind 4 sisters: Johnny P. Dawson, Kay Francis Rice (deceased), Nancy C. Johnson, Patricia C. Barron, Mable J. Jackson, one brother Carey Cheatham, Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

After living in California for several years, she met and remarried Willie Ray Hashaway and resided in Mesquite, Texas. During her time in Texas, she frequently visited home to spend time with friends and family. rAfter about 15 years, she then returned to her original home upon her husband's passing where she remained until her death.

As we remember and celebrate Annie Laura's life we acknowledge that she was the embodiment of quiet strength and refined elegance-an 88-year journey marked not just by the years she lived, but by the grace with which she faced them. A woman of resilience, she weathered life's storms with a steady heart, never allowing hardship to dull her shine or shake her dignity. Her battles were many, but she wore each victory not as a burden, but as a badge of honor, always choosing poise over complaint, and kindness over bitterness.

Remembering that the number seven in Scripture symbolizes completion and divine perfection (Genesis 2:2–3), the number eight marks the dawn of new beginnings-a sacred transition into renewal and eternity (2 Corinthians 5:17; Luke 9:28).

At 88 years of age, her life reflected both: a double portion of completion and a grace-filled beginning beyond this life. Her earthly journey, full and faithful, has now given way to something eternal-where sorrow is no more, and peace is perfect. Eighty-eight years not just lived, but fulfilled, sealed in strength, and now carried into the everlasting.
