Anthony Bucca Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anderson Funeral Home - Ayer on Jul. 9, 2025.
Shirley - It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved PAPA, Anthony Joseph Bucca, of Shirley, MA. Anthony passed peacefully on July 4, 2025 at the age of 97, after being surrounded by his closest family during his final days.
Anthony was born on March 30, 1928, one of five children to the late Charles and Catherine Bucca of Somerville. His siblings Vincent, Charlie, Francis, and Sarah, all of Somerville, predeceased him.
Anthony was an Army veteran for the 82nd Airborne Division of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was a member of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment as a Light Mortarman Set Gun Deflection and a Great Expert Marksman from April 3, 1946 – October 3, 1947.
Anthony had a passion for bowling and golfing and up until his early 90's, could be found once a week on the green. He also enjoyed a good game of Bridge with "the guys" and could sometimes be found at Foxwoods for some Poker.
However, above anything else, Papa had an undying love for his family; nothing brought him more joy than being with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They truly were the light of his life and they will always love and cherish his memory.
Anthony is survived by his eldest daughter Lorraine G. Landry of Townsend, MA; his four grandchildren, Tony Caddigan and wife Shawna of Stoddard, NH and their children Brody, Lucas, and Graham; Ashley Parmenter and husband Justin Parmenter of Fitchburg and their children Lindsay, Caden, Alanna, Noah, Jace, Carmella, Sarah, and Tristan; Kenneth Buddington and his wife Renee of Shirley and their children Mia and Ellie; Sean Buddington of Ipswich, NH and Mandy Buddington of Gardner, MA and their children Alex, Kyle, Hunter and Riley. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was predeceased by his wife Helen Rose (Aurelia), who passed away in 2015; his daughter Dorothy (Buddington) Butler, who passed away in 2000, and his son Anthony, Jr., who passed away at just two days old in 1956.
A celebration of Anthony's life will be held on Friday, July 11, at the American Legion Post 183, 8 Church St, Shirley, MA from 1:00 – 4:00PM with a prayer service at 2PM followed by the rendering of military honors.
