So sorry to hear of Tony's passing. I did maintenance on his P-51 back in the 80's, 25 hour checks, etc. I helped him lay the marble tile in his hangar's bathroom. He was a good friend....Blue skies and Tailwinds.....

I was heartbroken to hear about Tony's sudden passing. We first met through a mutual friend at an Oshkosh air show years ago.His wife Kris and I immediately connected and as time went on our families became close friends. We raised our young families together with a shared love of aviation. We vacationed in many great places with Tony and Kris and Britanni. My twin daughter's loved "Uncle T" and his laughter! They felt his love too.Having ice cream at the airshow together was a highlight of their day after looking at airplane after airplane. Marissa and Brianna seemed to have grown up at airshows with Tony.Now Brianna has the love of aviation and is currently in flight school in Indianapolis.I know that Tony was a huge part of her passion for flying. We love you Tony and will miss you so much.Thank you for the memories...

Having first met Tony at Luther College back in 1972, many years ago, we were college study partners, Foosball teammates, and happy to say best of friends. Tony always had a desire to fly and I'd completed my private pilot license in 1971, so destiny was in the making. Tony first flew with me, my future wife Julie and another friend to an airshow in Des Moines IA, Jul 1973, on a flight in a PA-28-180 that he never forgot. He was hooked. Then in the summer of 1976 while he was a medical student, his rotation with a renowned P-51 owner, Dr. Burns Byram in Marengo, Iowa, convinced him what his ultimate calling would be. He earned his pilot license and a short time later earned his US Air Force Flight Surgeon Wings in 1984, as a Reservist, at Brooks AFB TX, while I was there completing my Aerospace Medicine residency. Tony also served as an FAA Aviation Medical Examiner for a number of years. Tony had a sharp mind, a great sense of humor and tremendous loyalty to his family, friends and country. I'll look for you on my wing buddy! My deepest condolences to Kristine and Britanni.

I spent many late nights with Tony working in the Operating Room at St. Mary's. He had superior intelligence and above average sense of humor. I admonished him once for having so much clutter on the top of his anesthesia cart. I asked him why not put all that junk in the drawers of the cart? His answer was simply, I can't do that. Where would I put all my airplane books? I've never met anyone like him. And so Tony... off into the wild blue yonder.

Like so many others at St. Mary's and St. Luke's, I had the privilege of working with and knowing Tony professionally.
Always enjoyed any and all stories of he and his P-51 Mustang, especially the one of his airborne "meeting" with the WTMJ traffic plane over Milwaukee as well as the birthday flight of Dudley Johnson.

Tony's larger than life personality put a smile on the hearts of many...never to be forgotten.

Rest in peace Tommy Gun Tony.

I was deeply sadden to hear the news of Tony's passing. My condolences to the entire Buechler family. Many of us have great memories of our friendship and gatherings at his and Kris's hangar in Waukesha. He loved aviation and shared his passion with so many of us. I will always be grateful for the time we had together.

Tony's willingness to talk to anyone about aviation and his amazing knowledge of P-51 Mustangs and a host of subjects will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to the family and trust they know that the entire flying community at his home airport share in their loss. Thank God for the Blessed Hope we have in Christ for our eternal salvation and life.

Early in my anesthesiology career I knew of Tony, but was not well acquainted. After I retired from my Waukesha Memorial Hospital practice and began a part time position at the Eye and Laser Surgery Center, I had the great pleasure of working with Tony. He was a very vibrant person and a joy to work with. I am shocked and very saddened at the news of his passing. A great guy gone too soon. He will be missed.

Sorry to hear of the loss

Tony was the one who introduced me to flying and the love for it. He was an amazing friend and mentor who touched so many people. My heart goes out to everyone who knew Tony.
