Anthony Wayne began his earthly journey on Wednesday, January 25, 1961 in Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee, the son of Robert Harris Burney and Essie Majors Burney. His parents preceded him in death..
He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
Anthony received his education in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System and where he was a graduate of Clarksville High School with the Class of 1979. He attended Hampton University an HBCU. He joined the U.S. Marines and attained the rank of CPL/E-4 before receiving an Honorable Discharge. He enjoyed employment with Hankook Tires as a Quality Inspector.
He was married to Yvette McCoin
Affectionately called “Mabel” by loved ones, he never met a stranger and loved everyone. He loved to eat and enjoy family time with lots of laughter and jokes. “Mabel’s” precious joy was time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed watching football on Sundays with his brothers and friends and playing softball. He was always happy and upbeat. All who knew and loved him will sorely miss his presence and smiling face.
On Thursday, July 10, 2025, Anthony departed this life to be with the Lord.
He leaves precious memories to be cherished by his daughter, Latoyia Burney, Clarksville, TN; grandchildren, Joydan Wilson, Jayda Burney, Justice Burney and Jamel Burney; six great-grandchildren; brothers: David “OJ” (Areba) Burney, Clarksville, TN and Maurice “Beedy” Burney, Springfield, TN; sisters: Renee Reyes and Roberta (Michael) Tharpe, all of Clarksville, TN; special nephew, Marcus “Puff” Miller and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
