Anthony D'Agostino Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home - Dedham on Jan. 12, 2026.
D'Agostino, Anthony P. Sr., of Dedham, MA died peacefully at home on January 10, 2025 surrounded by loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary (Cavanaugh) D'Agostino of Dedham, MA, his sons Anthony D'Agostino Jr. of Foxboro, MA, James D'Agostino and his wife Francine Sullivan of Bellingham, MA, Michael D'Agostino and his wife Joanne D'Agostino of Stoughton, MA, and Paul D'Agostino and his wife Jessica D'Agostino, of Norwood, MA, as well as two adoring granddaughters Maria and Christina who he loved dearly, and several nieces and nephews who knew him as "Uncle Cookie," an endearing nickname that he cherished. Anthony was born in his home in South Boston, to Italian immigrants Benjamin and Maria (Delmastro) D'Agostino. He is predeceased by sisters Angie Mason, Josephine Belmont, Esther Sferrazza, Anna Goodrich, Antoniette D'Agostino and his Brother Benjamin D'Agostino Jr. all from Dedham.

His father Benjamin Sr. started D'Agostino Fuel Company in 1906, delivering coal, ice, wood, and heating oil. Continuing in his fathers footsteps, he took over the family home heating oil business, one of his greatest passions. Anthony was a proud father to his four sons, and was happiest when working and teaching them his unending knowledge of building, construction, mechanic work, and so much more. Plowing snow was another one of his many passions; he plowed during the infamous Blizzard of '78 for Mass-Highway on the Southeast Expressway, and continued plowing the streets of Dedham and Foxborough for many years with his sons – well into his late 80's. Tony believed working hard was the sole method, and he instilled that principle into his sons.

Visiting Hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson- Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM, on Tuesday, January 13th, from 4-7pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Wednesday, January 14th, at 8am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church, 420 High Street, Dedham, at 9:00 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Entombment St. Michael Cemetery, Roslindale.
