Anthony 'Dave' Genett took his last breath on July 15th, 2023 at 10:48 am in his Marshfield home while being lovingly cared for by his wife Donna. He succumbed to a return of prostate related cancer at the age of 82.
Visitation will take place from 9:00 am – 11:30 am on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Rembs Funeral Home. Military rites will be performed by VFW Post #6352 - Stratford at the conclusion of the visitation and a celebration of life will follow at Rembs Celebration Center.
He was born in Marshfield, WI on April 4th, 1941 to parents Isabell and Clarence. He was the youngest of 5 children, siblings Roland, Kenneth, Donna and MaryAnn. Dave attended St. John's Catholic elementary school and Columbus High School in Marshfield, WI. Dave served 3 years in the Army from 1963-1965. He was married in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Donna Dietz on January 15th, 1966. He held various jobs during his lifetime, including Morning Glory, Bilek Distributing, Weigel's, Marshfield Fire Department, Marshfield Water and Light, and various local companies as a truck driver.
Dave, described by many as 'one of a kind' loved to play softball, golf, bowling and billiards. His jobs were very physical, and he liked to stay in shape by running, biking and lifting weights. After taking to running for a time, he won 1st place in a Marshfield fun run.
Dave enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved sharing his love of cars and mechanics with his son Scott and teaching his daughter Tricia how to play sports.
After Dave retired in 2003, he was fortunate enough to spend 13 winters with his wife in The Villages, FL where he could golf to his heart's content.
He will be remembered fondly for his sense of humor like no other, making us laugh even up to the very last few days.
Dave is survived by his wife, Donna, son, Scott (Debra) Genett of Auburndale, daughter, Tricia (Pat) Genett-Ostergren of Minneapolis, grandchildren, Brianna (Brett) Przybylski, Lachlan Ostergren, and Sophie Ostergren, and great grandchildren, Elliot and Addison Przybylski. He is further survived by his sister, Donna Wenzel of Marshfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Kenneth and Roland Genett, and a sister, Mary Ann Genett.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The family would to extend a special thanks to St. Croix Hospice – especially Lynn, Breanna, and Rhonda, as well as Susan Boyle, PA Interventional Radiology, employee extraordinaire, staff on 8N, and Dr. Hashem who knows how to talk to patients at end of life.
