Anthony Eugene Jasumback

Anthony “Tony” Eugene Jasumback, a loving father, devoted husband, and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. He is now reunited in eternal peace with his beloved wife, Joan, who preceded him in death three months prior. Their sixty-seven years of marriage were a testament to their deep love and mutual appreciation, evident to all who knew them.

Born on November 17, 1937, in Wentworth, Missouri, Tony was the middle of five children. He grew up on a small family farm before pursuing his passion for engineering. He graduated as a mechanical engineer from the Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, Missouri. Tony retired after a distinguished 35-year career as a mechanical engineer with the U.S. Forest Service, working at the Missoula Technology Development Center. Tony proudly served his country as an officer in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Captain before his honorable discharge.

On December 27, 1958, Tony married the love of his life, Joan Marie Hasting, in Kellogg, Idaho. Together, they built a life filled with shared passions and treasured moments. They enjoyed cross-country skiing, hiking, huckleberry picking, and the unique experience of sleeping out in the back of a truck, listening to elk bugle. Family vacations on the Oregon coast and wintering in Yuma were also cherished traditions.

Beyond his professional achievements, Tony's greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He deeply valued quiet moments shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. These special times included exploring tidepools, walks along the beach and dunes, crawdad fishing, collecting worms for fishing, experiencing frigid winter fireworks displays, and marveling at meteor showers, stars, and satellites on still desert winter nights.

Tony was a constant source of positive encouragement, inspiring each family member to pursue their dreams and aspirations despite challenges. His strong belief in their potential was always evident, and during their tight goodbye hugs, he would whisper how proud he was and that they could achieve anything they set their minds to. His love and unwavering support were profoundly felt and will forever be cherished.

Tony’s memory will be lovingly held by his children, Mark & Lisa Jasumback, Cis & Gary Brower, and Mike Jasumback. He will also be deeply missed by his adoring grandchildren, Don & Ann, Andrew & Janiere, Caitlyn & Alex, Sarah, Megan, Amelia, Abby, and Adrienne, and his precious great-grandchildren, Louis, Celeste, and Jules. Each of them carries a sense of his strength and wisdom. Tony is reunited in eternal peace with his wife Joan, his daughter-in-law Danine Jasumback, and his brothers Francis and Phillip, who passed before him.

Tony's unwavering love, infectious laughter, and steadfast support will forever be cherished in the hearts of his family and friends. He lived a life full of adventure, family bonds, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Though he is gone, his spirit will live on in the memories shared, the lessons taught, and the enduring love he bestowed upon all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Joan, forever dancing under the starlit skies they so loved to admire together.
