Anthony Kurt Jones

Anthony (AJ) Kurt Jones, 60 years old, of Waverly, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on February 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

AJ was happy, funny, and charismatic and was affectionately nicknamed 'Seaweed' when he was a teenager. AJ loved a good dad joke, prank and to tell stories. He had a passion for repairing antique cars, drumming, traveling with his family and making new friends. AJ NEVER met a stranger. He was an army veteran, who proudly served our country as an E5 sergeant. Above all, he was a faithful servant of the lord who loved and cherished his family deeply.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie Jones, with whom he shared a devoted partnership with for 40 years. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, music, and adventure.

Aj is also survived by his father Theodore Jones, siblings; Jimmy Jones, Angela Jones, George Combs, Angie (Bryan) Combs, Greg Curtis, Kimberly Jenkins, Patrice Jenkins & Kapri Jenkins, children; Senchal Murphy, Chantell Shaw, Chris (Shannon) Shaw, Denasia Pinkard, Larry (Savanah) Jones, Cheyanne Sullivan & Drake Turley, grandchildren; Caden Bear, Charity Shaw, Lane Bear, Addison Murphy, Mya Shaw, Jiji Pinkard, Camille Murphy, Kreed Shaw, Kingston Jones, Kobe Pinkard & Rustyn Bear, and an endless list of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends and so many kids within the community that he impacted and treated as his own.

He is proceeded in death by his mother, Vivian Alston; mother-in-law, Patricia Fawley, brother; Teddy Jones and his nephew, Walter Tates.

Aj's legacy of love for his family and friends, will be cherished by all who knew him and he will be deeply missed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly Ohio. The Family will receive visitors on Monday, February 23 at Eden Baptist Church from 11:00am-1:00pm, followed by a formal service at 1:00pm.
