Death Notice

Anthony D. Lane

1932 - 2023

Anthony D. Lane passed peacefully on January 24, 2023 after a brief stay at Christian Hospital,
St. Louis at the age of 90. Anthony was the devoted son of the late Lena and William Lane and
loving brother to Albert who was lost at a young age. He was the husband of Jean, the love of his life.
He is survived by Jean, his wife of 61 years and their five children: Cathy, Dan, Mike, Paul and John;
twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Anthony served in the United States Army Signal Corps in Japan after the Second World War. He was
a St. Louis City firefighter for nearly 30 years, retiring at the rank of Captain. Following retirement
from the City, he continued to serve as a security officer at Florissant Valley Community College.
After fully retiring, Anthony discovered a renewed and rich revival of his Catholic faith. He was a
daily communicant as his health would allow. He prayed the Rosary early and often. He was
graced with a deep devotion to our Blessed Mother and to St Padre Pio. He became a
Eucharistic minister, bringing the Blessed Sacrament to the sick and homebound.
Anthony was not a man of travel or hobby. He did enjoy watching Cardinals, Blues and SLU
Billikens games with Jean. He treasured time with his family and was quietly a source of
answered prayers and blessings for us all.
Visitation, Saturday, February 4, 2023, 10:00 AM until time of Mass at 11:00 AM at
St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Catholic Church, 2650 Parker Road, Florissant, MO. Interment
