Anthony Panico Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by East Haven Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. on Feb. 4, 2026.
Anthony Panico, 98, of New Haven passed away peacefully on February 3rd, 2026 at CT Hospice in Branford. He was the beloved husband of Anna Panico for nearly 75 years.

Anthony was born in New Haven on December 4th, 1927 to the late Stanislao "Sally" & Assunta Ruggiero Panico. He was a graduate of East Haven High School Class of '46 and shortly after joined the U.S. Army, serving as a corporal during the Korean War. A huge lifelong Yankee fan, he got to see Lou Gehrig and Joe DiMaggio play as a young boy. Anthony worked for over 45 years at Southern Connecticut Gas, retiring as a supervisor in the street department. He made many friends at the gas company where he was known to be a jack of all trades, mostly self-taught and able to fix just about anything. He was also a longtime member of the Annex YMA. Anthony was known for his humble nature, kind spirit and was loved by all he met.

In addition to his wife Anna, Anthony is survived by his son Thomas Panico of East Haven; daughter Lori Maggiore (Mark) of West Haven; his brother Raymond Panico of East Haven; his grandchildren: Justin Maggiore, Anthony Panico, Thomas Panico, Michele Maggiore & Erica Maggiore; and his nieces & nephews Paul DeRosa, Lorraine Maru, Donna Calabrese, Anthony Amarante & Lucy Prokop. Anthony was predeceased by his sister Carmella "Carol" DeRosa; brothers Pasquale & Carmen Panico and sister-in-law Mary (Frank) Amarante.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Anthony on FRIDAY February 6th at 11:00 AM in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 80 Taylor Ave East Haven. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.

Sorry to hear of the passing of my Uncle and Godfather.
He will be sorely missed by friends and family. I have many fond memories of sitting in my yard under the grapevine on hot summer days and Uncle Tony Tommy and Lori would come to visit. We would have Italian coffee with Sambuca.
It was a 3 o´clock ritual every day. Our grandmother would bring out vanilla ice cream. A lot of good memories. I remember he used to refer to me as Donna Dooney and that would make me laugh.
