I am saddened to have recently learned of Anthony´s passing. He lived across the street from me when we were eight years old. He was my first best friend. Unfortunately, we lost touch after he moved away, but I will forever cherish fond memories of him and our early friendship those many years ago. I can still see his smile and hear his laugh and remember the fun times we shared together. On the rare occasion that I find myself in the area, I sometimes drive through the old neighborhood and pass the house where he once lived and am taken back to my youth when we would spend sunny days in his pool jumping of the diving board to see who could make the biggest cannonball splash or playing outside for hours with our imagination in full gear, or riding our bikes until the street lights came when we had to unwilling go home. I remember his Dad and Mom being so nice and trying to avoid his pesky brothers and playing with BaSheba, the family German Shepard, or sitting out in front of his house on the wall with the black iron railing contemplating what we were going to do with the day. I miss my friend Anthony and pray his family is doing ok. I will never forget him or the simple times we spent being kids in a world that seems a million miles away.
