Anthony Reno Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 22, 2023.
Anthony (Tony) Joseph Reno, 50, passed away tragically during a diving incident, on Saturday, August 12, 2023. He was born September 28th, 1972, in Ishpeming, Michigan. Tony is the son of Chris Reno and the late Joe Reno. He grew up in Marquette, Michigan, and was a graduate of Marquette Senior High School. Tony always had the heart of a public servant. He began his public service as a corrections officer for the Marquette Branch Prison in Marquette, Michigan and as a volunteer firefighter in Skandia, Michigan before his move to the south. He served in various capacities in Charleston County, South Carolina, including as a Deputy for the Sheriff's Office and as a firefighter for the Charleston Fire Department. It was here that he professionalized his love for diving, serving as a Search and Recovery Diver with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office. He most recently served the community as the School Resource Officer for the Clay County District Schools Police Department at Plantation Oaks Elementary School. Tony was a dedicated public servant in each of the communities that he served.
Tony was a loving husband to his wife, Terri. He also loved his family well. Tony never lacked for friends, as he was the kind of friend everyone was especially glad to have in their lives. He was kind, upbeat, and genuinely cared for the people in his life.
In addition to Tony's passion for serving his community and enjoying quality time with his family and friends, he had a passion for diving into large bodies of water. He became an expert in the field of diving, having earned many certifications and logging close to 500 dives. Some of his favorite diving expeditions involved looking for megalodon artifacts, seeking souvenirs to share with his grandson, Jameson.
Tony is survived by his loving wife, Terri Reno, his mother, Chris Reno, and her partner, Glen Alexander, his sister, Tammy Reno, his stepson, Joel DeMerse, his stepdaughter, Jain Gicker and her husband, Keith, and grands, Jameson and Alexander, and other extended family members.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Middleburg, Middleburg, Florida on Saturday, August 26th at 11:00 AM. Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 AM. Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home at Mandarin is serving the family.
