Anthony Joseph Sarrica, 83, of St. George, Utah passed away on November 26, 2024. Tony was born August 12, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York and was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Louis Sarrica and Jean Profera Sarrica, and by his wife, Ruth Schafer Sarrica.
Tony is survived by his brothers: Joseph Anthony Sarrica of El Paso, Texas and Robert Louis Sarrica of Hudson, Florida; son, Stephen (Kristina) Sarrica of Dexter, Michigan; daughter, Karen (Adam) Sarrica Burdette of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and two grandsons.
Tony received his undergraduate degree from Colby College in Waterville, Maine and his graduate degree from C. W. Post College in Brookville, New York.
As a teen, Tony worked as a public messenger in New York City. He was a successful southpaw pitcher in both high school and college, once earning a tryout with the New York Mets. Tony taught high school mathematics at his alma mater Wantagh Senior High School. He moved his young family to Ohio and joined North American Aviation working in computing and information technology. He later joined the Ohio State University Hospital Computer Center, rising to senior management and eventually retiring after 30 years of service.
Tony was a stained-glass artisan, producing many pieces that are already considered family heirlooms. Tony and Ruth met at college in Maine while playing bridge, a pastime they enjoyed throughout their 60 years of marriage.
