Anthony Scala Sr., 79, of Manalapan, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Centra State Medical Center. Anthony was born in Brooklyn, New York before moving to New Jersey 8 years ago. Prior to his retirement, he was a manager at Burlington in Staten Island. Anthony proudly served his country in the US Army. In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with his family. He was affectionately known as Papa and everyone loved it when Papa made his homemade pizza. Besides being gentle, loving and fun to be around, he was a devout Christian who prayed diligently and had a passion for reading the Bible.
Anthony was predeceased by his parents Dante and Tomasina Scala. He is survived by his wife Concetta Scala; his children Anthony Scala Jr. (Tracey) of Bloomingdale NJ, Paul Scala (Erica)of Morganville NJ, Christine (Eric) of Morganville, NJ and Stephen Scala of Manalapan NJ and grandchildren Victoria, Emily, Paul, Samantha, Eric, Ethan, Catherine.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Thursday, March 27th from 4:30PM to 8:30PM at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North., Manalapan. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 7:00PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery.
