Anthony Ray Staley, 66, of Live Oak, Florida, passed away at home on November 21, 2024. Ray was born on December 16, 1957, in Caro, Michigan, to Earl and Jean (Vargo) Staley. He was a hardworking man who loved his family, his friends, and his community. Ray never met someone he didn't love and treated everyone he encountered with kindness and respect. He was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Karen Lynn Staley; his father, Earl Roy Staley; and his mother, Jean Vargo Staley.
Ray is survived by his three children: Tony (Ashley) Staley of Live Oak, FL, Adam (Lindsey) Staley of Crawfordville, FL, and Michael (Andrea) Staley of Lake City, FL; and his grandchildren: Kale, Kobe, Alli, and Tyson. He also leaves behind his siblings: Doris (Abe) Thomas of O'Brien, FL, Iva Staley of Live Oak, FL, Earl (Roxanne) Staley of Live Oak, FL, and Carl (Marianne) Staley of Lake City, FL, along with countless friends and extended family.
Ray spent most of his life in Suwannee County, where he was a constant presence in youth sports, coaching and encouraging kids to do their best. He was always ready to jump in when needed, whether it was fixing something, coaching a team, or helping a neighbor. Ray's kindness and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Dowling Park Church of God, 23500 NW CR 250, Live Oak, FL 32060. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM. Burial will take place at Live Oak Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dowling Park Church of God, 23500 NW CR 250, Live Oak, FL 32060.
