Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home - Fairfield on Nov. 2, 2025.
Antoinette Sposito died peacefully at home in the presence of those who cared for and loved her on November 1, 2025. Just weeks before her 100th birthday, Ann joined those she loved who preceded her in death including her parents, Anna and Felix Sposito, Sr. and her beloved siblings, Rose McNabb and Mary, Joe, Felix, Bob and Dominic Sposito. Born in Yonkers, NY and transitioning from her beloved summer home on Fairfield Beach to her residence in Southport, Ann maintained a beautiful home with her sister, Mary and decorated it "to the nines" with seasonal displays generated from her many travels.
Ann lived a rich and adventuresome life, traveling throughout the world and meeting people of many cultures. China, Africa, Morocco, Mexico and many more countries were her destinations. Living and teaching in Rome was a highlight of her life. She regaled in stories of her adventures and life experiences and shared her love of the world with all who would listen. Ann graduated from Cortland State Teachers College in preparation for a career as a physical education teacher in Yonkers, Mount Vernon and Eastchester. She transitioned to the role of guidance counselor following her master's studies at Columbia University.
Her eight nieces and nephews were the source of much joy and love. She exposed them to so many life experiences and shared her life's wisdom willingly. They will miss her greatly. For the last years of her life, Ann was gently and beautifully cared for by her devoted friends, Carmel Buckley and Cindy Ianuzzi. Their patience, skill and friendship were unmatched by anyone anywhere her family couldn't be more grateful for their devotion.
Ann's faith in God sustained her. Her intense curiosity about the world and its events were unparalleled. To the end, she read the New York Times and watched the news programs. She reveled in watching sports of all kinds and could not be interrupted during the US Open tennis or golf.
Godspeed, Ann. To a life well-lived to the fullest from all who loved and shared this world with you.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Church, 49 Turkey Hill North in Westport. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yonkers.
