Anton Hackman, 80, Minot, formerly of Dunseith, died Sunday, December 7, 2025, in a Kenmare hospital.

Anton was born September 4, 1945, in a cabin within the Turtle Mountains of North Dakota, near St. John to Clarence and Marian (Kraft) Hackman. He attended Dunseith High School, graduating in 1964.

Anton was united in marriage to Linda Mae Wentz on July 31, 1966, at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby, ND. This union was blessed with three children.

Anton was inducted into the US Army on September 14, 1967. He served honorably in Vietnam and was discharged on August 31, 1969.

They made their home in Rugby for a couple of years, before moving to Montana. They lived in Conrad, Lewistown, Polson, Flathead Lake and Helena. Anton was a GSA Motorpool Mechanic for the US Government. He retired in 2004 and they moved to Minot, ND.

Anton was a lifetime member of the VFW in Montana and attended Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot. He was involved with Boy Scouts of America with his children.

He enjoyed the outdoors spending many nights camping and going on vacation with family. He was a car fanatic and deeply valued family time. Anton will be remembered for his generous spirit, quick wit and teasing of family and friends.

Surviving family includes his loving wife of 59 years, Linda, Minot; children Alan (Collette) Hackman, James Hackman and Christine Hackman, all of Minot; grandchildren Shelly, Patrick and Brianna; one great-grandson; step great-grandchildren Terrell, Kaylee, Olivia, Serenity, Halo, Lila, Ryan and Jack; siblings Henry (Marcy) Hackman, Mandan, ND, Larry (Marion) Hackman, Bismarck, ND, Clarice Hackman, Fargo, ND, Rosie (Robert) Schnieder, Devils Lake, ND, Jeanne Hackman, Devils Lake, ND and Lanny Hackman, Rugby, ND along with several nieces and nephews.

Anton was preceded in death by his parents and sister Betty Schmidt.

Mass Of Christian Burial: 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2025 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service in the church.
