HOLYOKE: Antonio Lourenco Neves (84) of Holyoke passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, December 14, 2012. Antonio was blessed with a beautiful life filled with much love, joy and treasured memories. He was born March 10, 1928 in Portugal to Maria Luisa Neves and Francisco Lourenco. He leaves his loving and devoted wife Marinete Simoes Neves of 48 years, his adoring daughter and son, Maria L. (Neves) Veves of Quincy and Antonio L. Neves, Jr. of Medford. He also leaves his son-in-law Aristidis Veves, his most beloved grandson George Antonio Veves and his son's fiancée Allison M. Jensen. He is survived by his 5 siblings, Clara (Neves) Morgado and late brother-in-law Manuel Morgado, Felizmino Neves and late sister-in-law Lucilia Neves, Orlindo Neves and sister-in-law Irene Neves, Lurdes (Neves) Coelho and brother-in-law Jose Coelho, Augusto Neves and sister-in-law Gloria Neves. He was devoted to his family and cherished his many nieces and nephews along with their families. He was predeceased by 6 siblings Emilia Lourenco Neves, Manuel Lourenco and his surviving wife Maria dos Anjos Inacio, Jose Lourenco and his surviving wife, Amelia Lourenco, Joaquim Lourenco, Armenio Neves and his surviving wife Clotilde Neves, and Amandio Neves and his surviving wife, Antonieta Neves. Antonio migrated to Mozambique, Africa where he lived a few years years, and then to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1953. He was a business owner, met and married the love of his life and started his family. He then moved his family to America to pursue the American dream in 1974. Antonio was retired from Mastex in 1996. He belonged to Our Lady of the Cross Church and was a proud member of the Portuguese American Club and community. He raised his family with much love, kindness and honor, and will be missed more than words can say. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9:00 from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass in Our Lady of the Cross Church, 23 Sycamore Street in Holyoke at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Life Care, 113 Hampden Street, Holyoke MA 01040
