To the family of Sgt Antwan Walker,
My heart and prayers to the entire WALKER family. I met Antwan when he first came out of AIT. I was his first supervisor upon his arrival at FT Stewart GA. I am proud that he had attained the rank of Sergeant and served his country very well. My memory with him was how he talked about his love and care for family all the time. All he wanted to do is to be the very best dad and raise his children and provide them a bright future. Sgt Walker was very disciplined, respectful, and loyal Soldier. May you rest in peace brother!
God Bless your soul and the Walker family,
Master Sergeant Edwin Susi, US ARMY

I met Antwan first in Tampa Florida then joined the military and reunited with him again in Korea. He was a very nice guy and a very well spoken can caring person. I believe in my heart that he truly was one of God's angels and he is on a different mission now. Although he was younger than me, he was older in lots of ways. I remember him making fun of my accent.... remember his protection and guidance. I think of Antwan all the time and his departure to this other world of Haven broke my heart. I was upset with God for a while, I finally after five years am able to freely speak about it and understand that he makes no mistakes. I remember saying good bye in Korea when they had the 2nd ID ceremony for the deployment, he told me this is not good bye silly I will see you later when I get back. I still hold my piece our unity charm with me in my chain every day. I remember the many e-mails while he was in Iraq; I remember how he was excited to be coming home to his family specially his kids. Antwan was a very family oriented man and loved his family. As a soldier prior to his departure of this world , I have been part of numerous memorial for fallen soldiers but when I received the e-mail from Jason telling me that he has departed this world, it really hit home. This day of May 22 2005 when I got the news really change my life; I knew then that I was done. As a Veteran now, I work for the VA and ensure that I do all that I can to assist Veterans alike and Honor Antwan. I feel that I was divinely blessed as God allowed me to meet one of his angels. I will always remember you and you will always be a part of my life. I keep your family in prayers every day.

Reading these entries lets me know that my husband was missed by not only me and his family, but by a lot of other lives he touched! I am pleased to know that so many of you shared in his life while he was away from his family. It's almost 7 years since his passing and yet he still crosses your mind! Thank you for sharing your thoughts, feelings, and emotions. GOD's blessings to all of you!

See you later Antwan Lavelle Walker…….
It seems yesterday since I meet you.
I never knew we'll be together, friends for two.
We were not sure what we were going through.
But we've promised' we'll be together in prosperity or in sorrow.
But who knew what tomorrow was going to bring?
I believe there's a change in everything.
We're just mortals; we're not like him,
who holds the time and knows anything.
On May 18th 2005 the time came for you to leave.
And take this journey, long time you've prayed.
I was mad at God for a long time , but realized that he had a plan.
I will fulfill the promise, the promised we've said.
Always remember the memories we've made.
Cherish those time when we were together,
we've made history that lasts forever.
And even though we were apart,
you will always be here…right here in my heart.
Perhaps our roads are going to cross again,
If faith permits, I know It will happen Antwan.
Somewhere, someday, it just doesn't matter.
So that is why we did not say goodbye…you said see you later silly!"

Today you crossed my mind and i had to look you up. I remember our fun time in Korea. It feels like yesterday that Jason called me and told me that you have departed this world. I have never recovered from that. You have always been a best friend to me. I remember all the places we visited in Korea, all the outings, all the long talks about how much you love your kids and your family, your pride in being a soldier, your love for life. You will always be remembered. I still do the breathing technique you show me when i am upset and clam myself down, now i show it to my three year old daugther. You will always be a part of my life.

I think of him everyday. 6 years have past but it still seems like yesterday that we talked on the phone! And again like last year, I turned on the radio and our song had just came on, Always and Forever! I believe in signs and this seems to be my sign that he will always be watching over and protecting me, his children, and his family. We love you and we miss you so much!

The craziest thing happened yesterday! I posted a rememberance of you on facebook and as I read everyone's comments I thought of the song that was to be played after renewing our vows, "Always and Forever" by Heatwave. I responded to the comments on fb with the title of our song. When I got home I started thinking about the days and months before your passing and as I was ironing I thought to turn the radio on. I put the twins to bed, two songs went by and all of a sudden Always and Forever came on! I immediately started balling! I really miss you! Who knows how life would be if you were still here:) But I know that God has the masterplan and he makes no mistakes. Love and miss you!

Today is my late husband's birthday, he would have been 27. May has always been a hard month for me, even though it is four years later. We would have also celebrated our eight year anniversary on the 24th of this month. I think about him all the time and May is just overwhelming. The day of the memorial for his passing this year, the teachers at the twins', Antwan Jr. and Antwanette, school brought them the tribune with his picture in it. They are great about letting the twins know their father will NEVER be forgotten. The twins and I always go to Bushnell to the national cemetery to celebrate his birthday. We sing "Happy Birthday to You", the Stevie Wonder version! It gets kind of hard because they say "Miss you daddy!". But I get through it and we take some pictures, put down flowers, and a balloon. Now my children, especially Antwan Jr., say "I miss my daddy" or "I want to see my daddy". It breaks my heart that they can't do this. But they make me smile when they look up in the sky and say "Hi daddy! Miss you!" They are truly wonderful and intelligent children. I know that God makes no mistakes, I just wish that Antwan was here to see his children as they grow. But one thing is for sure I know he is watching over us and making sure we are well taken care of! I'm sure he is pleased! Thanks for all the prayers from everyone and taking the time to write your rememberances. We Love you Antwan, you are always thought about and missed!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Please know that just as your loved one will remain in your hearts and minds, his sacrifice and that of your family, will remain with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God grant you the peace that passes all understanding.

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Antwan, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS TAKEN THE TIME TO WRITE CONDOLENCE REGARDING MY NEPHEW SGT. ANTWAN LAVELLE WALKER. I TOO FEEL YOUR PAIN AS WELL. WE HAVE ALL LOST SOMEONE SO DEAR TO US, A HERO, A BOLD SOLDIER, A FATHER, A SON, A BROTHER, A SISTER, A HUSBAND,A WIFE, A COUSIN, A NEPHEW, A NIECE, A BEST FRIEND. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY A CHILD OF GOD! THEY'LL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN IN OUR HEARTS AND IN OUR MINDS THEY WILL LIVE ON.GOD DID NOT MAKE A MISTAKE WHEN HE TOOK OUR LOVED ONES ON HOME BECAUSE IN HIS WORD HE SAID THAT THERE'S A TIME TO DIE. IT WAS ANTWAN'S TIME.HE DIED SERVING HIS COUNTRY, PROTECTING US SO THAT WE COULD CONTINUE TO HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE FREE IN THIS COUNTRY! IT GETS HARD SOMETIMES BECAUSE I MISS HIM SO MUCH. LET US ALL CONTINUE TO LEAN AND DEPEND ON JESUS BECAUSE HE'S THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN MAKE EVERYTHING ALRIGHT!

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I just want to thank everyone for their prayers and their heart felt condolences in the passing of my nephew, Sgt. Antwan Walker. I loved Sgt. Antwan Walker very much. Dear Family,
I am so sorry about your loss about Antwan Walker. I knew Antwan from Fort Stewart. We were in the same unit together. He was a very sweet person who will never be forgotten. When I found out about his death, I was devastated because I couldn't believe it happeining to him. I remember Antwan because he would always get on my nerves but in a funny way. Antwan was a very good person and my heart goes out to his family.

From one military mom to another.
I too grieve your lost. My son 19, is also serving in the military. Like Twan, he wanted to better himself and his life. I can only imagine your feelings. But always know, that God is ALWAYS there. I don't know your family, but just reading the entries, he seemed to be
a GREAT son. You have great memories in the kids, cherish every moment. When things get grim, "look to the hills from whence cometh your help." May God bless and keep you. I pray that God take you through this period in your life. I lost a child to SIDS in 1981. It's different, because my baby was only six weeks old. You had yours 22 years, there was a bond that was formed. But yet, we as parents, suffered a lost. I feel your pain. A dedicated Military Mom

My deepest condolences to Twan's family. I do not know any of you, but Twan and I have been very good friend's since 2001. We met at fort stewart. He was truly a great person and if I didn't know anything else about Twan - I knew he loved his parents and his kids. That was the highlight of his day. When he went away we kept in contact and he just told me a little over a month ago he was coming home and how excited he was. I was wondering why I hadn't heard from him in a while after that and just yesterday someone in my old unit told me about Twan but they weren't sure if it was true. I refused to believe it, but now I know it's true. I just wish I would have known sooner and could have came to say goodbye. To his parents - thanks for raising "such a wonderful person." He will most definetly be missed. God be with you all.

ANTWAN AND LATICIA WERE THERE WHEN I HAD NO ONE AFTER I DELIVERED MY SON. ALL HE COULD TALK ABOUT WAS THE KIDS. HE LOVED HIS KIDS. AND HOW WE WOULD ALL GET TOGETHER AND JUST LISTEN TO HIM RAP ALL NIGHT. I KNOW IF HE WERE HERE RIGHT NOW, ALL HE WOULD WANT IS FOR ALL OF HIS KIDS TO BE TOGETHER. TWURK WILL TRUELY BE MISSED. LOVE NATASHA AND FAMILY

I am Antwan's aunt and I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. I especially would like to thank the Tampa Motorcycle Police Escorts who were so supportive and showed such honor to Antwan. Antwan was mature beyond his years and was a true soldier. We will miss him everyday of our lives and will never forget him.

We, like hundreds of thousands of Americans, cannot or will not join the Armed Forces in order to defend our nation from tyranny. Your loved one could and did. We will always thank God for people like him. And we thank you and grieve your loss and our country's.

Dear Family, I do not know any of you personally, but I am a very patriotic American. My ancestors were in past wars. I owe a great debt to all of our servicemen in all the Armed Forces who are currently serving & to those who have given their lives for my freedom. Thank you for Antwan (your son, husband, father, brother, uncle) who gave his life. God Bless & keep you all on this Memorial Day holiday.

I was shocked and upset to here about the lost of a friend. I was in the same Battalion as antwan before being sent to Fort Drum. He was a nice, friendly, pleasent person to hang out with and to be around and he will be truely missed. My prayers and heart goes out to his family and friends.

My most heartfelt condolences to the family of Sgt. Walker. I was in Ar-Ramadi in 2004 and was wounded by indirect fire. I know what it is to lose someone special as I lost friends that day. Nothing can console our hearts at this time. I hope his values of freedom and honor will inspire the young kids following in his footsteps. Freedom has a price and only people like you will ever understand that price. For only I wish I had met such a brave young man that was Sgt. Walker.
