Anya Lavon Burns (Cooper), of longtime Wewoka resident, finished her earthly journey on March 5, 2026. Born March 11, 1967, to George Cooper and Marvell Lunn, Anya spent most of her life in Wewoka with some time sprinkled in California and Oklahoma City.
Anya was filled with love and did her best to be a friend to everyone, no matter where they were from or where they were in their walk of life. She was known to start conversations with strangers to make sure everyone in the room felt included.
She loved to cook and feed everyone she could, even if the food she was serving wasn't hers. When she went to cookouts or family dinners she would pack as many to-go plates as she could and deliver them to people, even if that meant she had to walk to do it.
Her two daughters, Candice and Kevonte', were her pride and joy, but even they didn't hold a candle to her grandchildren. Kalib, Andriya, Kaisyn, Aevri, Dru Ray, Jeremih, Victoria, and Kennedi are the ones who made her world turn for the past 23 years. As soon as she found out she was going to be a grandma, she decided she wanted to be called because "All they'll remember is the love I have for them." Anya may have only two biological children, but she 'adopted' all the kids. Two that have held a special place in her heart their whole lives are Teola Washington and DeAmbri Beavers.
Anya is proceeded in death by her biological father, George Cooper; dad, Danny Lunn, Sr.; her husband's Leroy Burns and James Renfro; father of Kevonte', Kevon Chandler, Jr.; and her brother Clint "Matt" Lunn.
She is survived by her beloved mother, Marvell (Marty Lunn); daughter's Candice Williams (husband Tom), Kevonte' Chandler, Teola Washington (husband Donovan) and DeAmbri Beavers; brother's Tommy Sawyer, Danny Lunn, Jr., and Dewayne Cooper; her grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends who will cherish the times she made us laugh.
Flower and/or plant arrangements can be sent to 312 E 3rd Wewoka, OK 74884, or to the church the day of after 12:30.
