April Michelle Porter, 50, entered the arms of Jesus on November 22, 2025, in Louisburg, North Carolina. April was born on July 1, 1975, in Durham, North Carolina, to her loving parents, Robert "Bobby" and Patsy Porter. She is survived by her parents; her only child, Alex Norris, and his wife, Mary; her brother, Rob Porter, and his wife, Ashley; and their two children, Katie Evans (husband, Dedric, and children, Tre and Ellie) and Jacob Porter. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members who love her very much. In addition, she is survived by her faithful and devoted boyfriend, Billy Patterson.
April is preceded in death by her grandmothers, Wanda Green and Ethel Porter; her grandfathers, Robert Dennis, Lee Green Sr., and Raymond Porter; her uncles, Lee Green Jr. and Larry Dennis; and her cousins, Ricky Porter, Ricky Green, and Laci Culberson. She is also preceded in death by a special family friend, Scott Holovic.
April's greatest accomplishment in life was her son, Alexander, whom she loved with her whole heart. From childhood, she had an adventurous spirit. Never meeting a stranger, she had an infectious personality and would talk to anyone she met. She loved animals, especially her many dogs, along with sunflowers and the color yellow, a love she inherited from her "MeMa." She also loved Disney, with Mickey Mouse being her favorite.
Growing up, April could be her Daddy's princess one day and a tomboy the next. Her favorite time of year was Christmas, and she especially loved decorating with her Disney Christmas Village. Before her health declined, April enjoyed playing on her church's softball league with her brother, Rob, and her son, Alex, who served as the bat boy. She was also a member of the U.S. Olympic Dance Team
.
She was excited to become a grandmother, as Alex and Mary are expecting a baby in April of next year. Everyone who knew her knew how wonderful of a grandmother she would have been.
April graduated from Northern High School and continued her education at Wake Technical College, where she earned her degree in Paramedic and EMT studies. She had a long and accomplished career as a paramedic before retiring due to health issues. She also worked with the Duke Cord Blood Program. During her career, she taught several medical courses, sharing her knowledge and passion for helping others.
April loved animals, sunflowers, people, and most importantly, her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In her honor, the family requests that those attending her services wear the color yellow as a symbol of love and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in April's memory to the ASPCA, continuing her lifelong love for animals.
The family is being assisted by Clements Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. in Durham. Online condolences may be sent to www.clementsfuneralservice.com.
