April Lashon Thomas

April Lashon Thomas was born on December 16, 1983, to Brenda Thomas in Pineville, La. April transitioned with Christ on September 19, 2025, at LSU Ochsner in Shreveport, Louisiana.

April accepted Christ at an early age at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. April was later baptized in Jesus Name under Apostle Angela Davis and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost.

She graduated from Peabody Magnet High School in 2002 and went on to attend college at Northwestern State University.

April resilience and compassion that marked her life were apparent in her unwavering dedication to her family and her faith. April, was a beacon of joy, always armed with a funny remarks to put a smile on anyone's face. She brought her unique ways to every room she entered, making her presence felt and her absence deeply missed.

April was a faithful servant, and her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She often expressed that what mattered most to her was God and family. Her love for her family was as boundless as her faith. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, making each of her kids' birthdays feel like a grand celebration and considering her own birthday as a national holiday. She could easily lighten up any room with her humor.

April is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Dorothy Thomas, great grandmother Lubertha Washington, Aunts Sharon Dubea and Irma Thomas, and her best friend Ashley Craven.

She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories: her beloved mother Brenda Thomas; her precious children Azariah Polk and Maurice Polk Jr; her siblings Keri Thomas and Tavis Thomas; her cherished god-daughters Harmony Hayes and Kataydra Thomas; her aunts Camme Thomas-Viree, Jessie Mae Williams, Wanda Burns Smith, and Belinda Gail Burns, great aunt Mildred Moore, great uncle Freddie Thomas, best friend Stephanie Cage; and a host of cousins, friends, and her church family.
