Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home - Middletown on Jan. 24, 2025.
Ardith Pecht, born on November 9, 1930, in Charleston, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and dedication to her family and community.
Ardith wore many hats throughout her life, including those of a devoted mother, kindergarten teacher at Elkton Christian School, school bus driver, and weigh master for Dover Equipment. Her boundless energy and commitment to those around her were evident in every role she undertook.
In 1951, Ardith married the love of her life, Joseph Addison Pecht Jr., and together they built a beautiful family of six children. Summers were filled with joy as she would take her children and neighborhood kids to the beach every Wednesday, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever. Ardith also loved to travel, with Hawaii holding a special place in her heart; she visited at least five times. She frequently traveled with her husband to Navy reunions across the country and made regular trips back to West Virginia and Tennessee to visit family and friends.
Ardith had a deep love for gardening, cultivating both flowers and vegetables that brought joy to her family and neighbors. She was an avid reader until losing sight in her early 50s, after which she discovered the joy of books on tape. Despite this challenge, she continued to bake-her whiskey cakes were legendary-and garden, showcasing her resilience and passion for life. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion and warmth that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Ardith was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Addison Pecht, her son, Larry Pecht, and her siblings, Charles, Richard, and Nancy.
