Ardyce Lee Mitchell, 82, passed away peacefully and without pain on Wednesday, September 8, 2022 after a long battle with dementia. Ardyce Lee was born April 7, 1940, after a very long and bumpy bus ride from Altamont to Salt Lake City, Utah to Gail and Maude (Lindsay) Anderson. Ardyce spent her childhood on the farm in Talmage milking cows, riding horses, and learning to work (and play) hard, being the "Big Sis" of the family. After graduating from Altamont High, the family moved to Kearns, where Ardyce met her other half, Vern Mitchell. They were soon wed in Elko, NV, on February 16, 1962. From that point on they would only be separated by death; having a love and bond that was tangible to anyone in the same room as Ardyce and Vern. While raising their three children; Teri, Kathy, and Jim, Ardyce would continue her work-hard / play-hard ways with her family; often packing up the kids and traveling to different states to be with Vern as he traveled for work. There are few places the Mitchells haven't dropped the camper, lit a fire (and dropped a line). Some of their favorites were: Moon Lake, Red Creek, Currant Creek, Bear River Service, and later on, Flaming Gorge, where Ardyce and Vern would retire. As her children began to have their own, Ardyce Lee's true calling in life had been realized; as Grandma. Whether taking kids to and from school, babysitting, cheering at the ball game "Grams," as she was known, was always there for the kids. And it didn't end at family. Any child who needed a little love could count on Grams. She was the unofficial Grandma to several generations of young students at Manila Elementary School where she volunteered. She was the epitome of the word volunteer. Whether she was volunteering for the Manila Senior Center, feeding widows in the ward, manning voting booths, crocheting baby blankets, or helping both familial and adoptive grandkids learn to read or build school projects, no cause was too small for Ardyce Lee to pour her heart into. She touched this world for the better like very few before her and will be missed and loved by generations ahead. Ardyce is survived by daughter Teri Mitchell, daughter Kathy Kenner, and son James "Jim" (Barbara) Mitchell; Siblings Lapreal Lund, Dwayne Anderson, Marilynn Bennett, Rita Everill, and Brad Anderson; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by husband, Vern C. Mitchell; grandchild Mandy Lee Kenner, son in law Le Kenner; father Gail Anderson and mother Maude (Lindsay) Anderson. We would like to thank the staff of Legacy House of Taylorsville Care Center for their exceptional care, professionalism, and grace to the most gracious person we've known. A viewing will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Valley View Mortuary from 8:45 to 9:45 AM with funeral services to follow at 10:00 AM.
