Ardyth Anderson, age 90 of Albia, passed away on Monday August 11, 2014, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa. Ardyth was born March 30, 1924, to LeRoy F. Johnson and Chloe S. (Erlandson) Johnson in Logan Township, Dixon, Nebraska Ardyth graduated from Concord High School in Concord, Nebraska. On October 12, 1947, she married Lorence E. Anderson at Concord, Nebraska. To this union, 5 children were born, Linda, Connie, Arlys, Loren, and Arlen. Ardyth attended Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Nebraska and received her teaching certificate. She taught county school for 4 years in School District 58 in Dixon County Nebraska before her marriage to Lorence. Ardyth was a homemaker and a dairy farmer. She enjoyed raising a large garden and growing flowers, especially gladiolus. She made numerous quilts for her children and grandchildren, hooked rugs, embroidered, and liked word find puzzles. She enjoyed her Swedish heritage, often baking Swedish inspired foods that included Swedish Ostkaka (cheesecake), Wandering Jews, Angel Food Cake, Cinnamon Rolls, and Egg Yolk Cake.Ardyth was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia and helped organize funeral meals. Ardyth is survived by four children, Linda Lindgren of Oskaloosa, Arlys (Ed) West of Albia, Loren (Suzan) Anderson of Albia, and Arlen (Pam) Anderson of Albia; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. Ardyth was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Chloe Johnson,; a daughter, Connie Christine Anderson; a sister, Euvodia Johnson; 2 brother-in-laws, Bob L. Anderson and Gilbert Johnson; 2 sister-in-laws, Edith Anderson and Dorothy Carbin; and a son in law, Gary Lindgrn. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 15, 2014, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia, with Pastor Neil Montz officiating. Burial will be in Oak View Cemetery in Albia. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Ardyth's family present from 6-8 p.m. A memorial has been established to Trinity United Methodist Church or to the Oskaloosa Care Center.
