Ardyth Steele Obituary

On September 21st, 2025, Ardyth "Ardy" Lee Steele (Johnson) passed away peacefully at her home in Casselton, ND just as she had wished. She was 78.

Born April 5th, 1947, in Bagley, Minnesota. Ardy spent periods of time living and attending school between Shevlin and Bemidji where she graduated in 1965. It was these formative years where she obtained a work ethic that was- and still is- admired by us all.

Throughout her life, Ardy was a generous and kind-hearted soul, always ready to lend a helping hand. She held a lifelong joy in gardening, canning, cooking, quilting, sewing, and prayer. Her pantry stood as a testament to the seasons-sunshine and soil preserved in jars, each sealed with love and care. The harvests she gathered and shared with those who joined her during canning seasons were more than food. They were expressions of pride and deeply rooted memories for all to cherish.

Ardy didn't just sew; she stitched together the very fabric of our family. With every piece of clothing and every quilt she crafted, she wove warmth into our lives, creating lasting hugs that will never fade.

She gave freely, not out of duty, but from a heart overflowing with love. And her greatest creation wasn't found in a garden, a jar, or a quilt, it was the family she nurtured, cherished, and was most proud of. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she passed down, the meals she lovingly prepared, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life.

Ardy's faith was the cornerstone of her life and the unwavering strength that guided her on her path. Her devotion to God was not evident in just words, but in the way she cared for others, served her family, and faced life's trials with peace and trust. Her Bible was well-worn, not from age, but from a lifetime of seeking wisdom. It was this act of prayer which provided her comfort knowing she walked together with her Savior.

Ardy was preceded in death by her parents; a sister (Arlene), a granddaughter (Hailey), and a Son-in-law (Shawn).

She leaves behind her family: her loving husband, Curt; 4 children: Tamie (Keith), Charlie (Keely), Teresa, and Tanya (Scott); 17 Grandchildren; 10 (soon to be 11) Great Grandchildren; Sisters Carolyn (Jim), Dana (Dean), and many nieces and nephews whom she loved tremendously.

Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in the faith she nurtured, the love she gave, the kindness she showed, and the strength she inspired in all who had the privilege of knowing her.
