Arilla Dixon Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 2, 2026.
Arilla L. Dixon was born on July 16, 1980, in Youngstown, Ohio, and peacefully entered eternity on December 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend. As a homemaker, Arilla dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was the cherished daughter of Beatrice Dixon and Ronald Washington, both of whom preceded her in death.

Arilla had a passion for football and was a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. She found joy in the simple things, especially in her favorite color, purple, which symbolized her spirit-vibrant, regal, and full of warmth. Those who knew her will remember her laughter, her unwavering support, and the love she poured into everything she did.

Arilla's legacy continues through her four beloved children: Davontay (Kimmie) Dixon, Kshawn Dixon, Tyjai Dixon, and Damarius Dixon, and her precious grandchildren: Asantay Dixon, Destin Jones, Ollieanna Dixon, Eliza Figueroa, and Albert Whitted Jr.

She is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Clifford Dixon, Liza Duck, and Sylvia Washington, as well as her surrogate parents, Lewis and Charise Wright. The light in her life was also brightened by her goddaughter, Breanna Myers, who held a special place in her heart.

As we remember Arilla, let us cherish the moments we shared and the love she gave so freely. Join us for a celebration of Arilla's life as we gather for a public viewing at the Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Ave., on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a heartfelt funeral service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Young Tensley serving as the officiant. As we hold on to enduring memories, we remember Arilla for the love she gave so freely. Her light will continue to shine through each life she touched.

At this time of intimate need and personal loss, the family of Arilla L. Dixon elected to entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care, along with Transitional After-Care Arrangements to the J.E. Washington Funeral Services, 2234 Glenwood Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, 330.782.8500

AFTERGLOW by Helen Lowrie Marshall

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,

Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;

Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
