Arleen Clark, 93, passed away on November 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. A strong, quiet, and deeply steady presence, Arleen was known for her fairness, her kindness, and the long-lasting friendships she nurtured throughout her life.
Born and raised in West Virginia, Arleen grew up helping both at home and on her family's farm-work that shaped her quiet resilience and her lifelong habit of caring for others. After high school, she worked as a child caregiver, a role that first brought her to Pittsburgh. While working at a title company, she attended college, and it was during this time that she met her future husband, Charles Clark Jr.
Together, Arleen and Charles raised eight children-Stephen Clark, Theresa (Clark) Bashkingy, Kevin Clark, Melissa (Clark) Windle, Maria (Clark) DelVecchio, Andrew Clark, Susan (Clark) Tinsley, and Michelle (Clark) Burgoon-first in Pittsburgh and later in Arizona, where they moved after the birth of their fourth child. Arleen devoted her life to creating a warm, steady home for her family. She approached motherhood with patience, humility, and a sense of purpose that defined everything she did.
Faith and service played a central role in her life. She and her husband were deeply committed to their parish communities-St. Theresa and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Churches-where they volunteered countless hours in whatever ways were needed. Their shared dedication became one of the hallmarks of their life together.
In retirement, Arleen and Charles traveled extensively together and with friends, embracing new places and experiences while still remaining rooted in the parish community they loved. Arleen stayed active at her gym and treasured every moment spent with her growing family-eight children, seventeen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren-each of whom brought her tremendous pride and joy.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on December 4 at 10:30 AM, with a reception to follow.
