Arlene Humphrey Obituary
Arlene M. (Conway) Humphrey, "Leen" age 76, of Wilmington, DE, died Wednesday, January 7, 2026 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Arlene was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Class of 1967. She graduated Immaculata College in 1971 and received her Master's Degree from the University of Delaware.
Arlene dedicated her entire teaching career to Pennell Elementary School, where she served with devotion until her retirement. She was an avid reader and writer, and took great pride in being a published poet. Above all, Arlene was a loving mother to twin girls and she will be dearly missed.
Daughter of the late Eugene M. and Margaret (Mumley) Conway; Wife of the late Michael Humphrey; Sister of the late Larry Conway.
Survivors:
Twin Daughters: Amy and Jenni Smagala
Sister: Ellen (Steven) Taub
Nieces: Casey, Erica and Dana
Visitation: Wednesday, January 14th after 10:00AM at Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.
Family Sharing at 11:00AM at the funeral home.
Interment: Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Arlene was a most valued member of the Transcanal Writers and an excellent poet. Her poetry showed her talent using beautiful phrases and insight of the world through her lens. Her work can be found in the book FIVE BRIDGES.
She also was a warm, kind person with a good sense of humor and a good friend. We miss her.
