Arlene Madison, 94, of Waldo, Arkansas, was born March 21, 1929, in Saint James Community-Waldo. She was the daughter of the late Wiley Madison and Carrie Strong Madison. She was educated, at Saint James School. She was employed as a private home worker and in the cafeteria at Southern State College, now Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, until her retirement.
Arlene was full of life and a very sweet and loving person. She loved spending time with her family.
Tuesday evening, April 25, 2023, God looked down on earth and saw our mother’s tired face, and he put his arms around her and whispered, “Come and rest.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley Madison, Sr. and Carrie Madison; daughter, Corine Roy Zackery; son-in-law, Richard Zackery; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, four brothers, Harvey, William, R.B., and Wiley Madison, Jr.; sisters, Hazel Howell Turner, Corine Robinson and Fannie Kelly.
Arlene leaves to cherish her memories with her daughter, Margie Chappel Standoak; two sons, Kenneth (Delois) Young and Torrence (Carla) Sanders, all of Waldo, AR; one sister, Helena Watson of Muskegon, MI; sixteen grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

A Celebration of her Life and Legacy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Westside Church of Christ with Min. Donald Howell, officiating, and Min. Juerga Smith, eulogist. The interment will be at Smith Cemetery. Public Visitation will be Friday, May 5, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Westside Church of Christ in Waldo, Arkansas. Grandsons and nephews will serve as active pallbearers.
